7. Tiger is scared. But he helps anyway. "Here is your mommy," he says. "My baby!" says Mother Mouse. "Thank you!" says Father Mouse. What a brave cat Tiger is!

My new boy
1. I'm a little black puppy. I live in a pet shop. Soon I will have a kid of my own.
2. This is a boy for me. He says hello. He pats my head. Woof! Woof! He takes me home.
3. I start taking care of my boy right away. I keep him clean.
4. I teach him about tug-of-war (拔河).
5. My boy is not good at everything. He can not dig very fast.
6. He can not hide under the bed.
7. He can not run as fast as I can.
8. I run and run. Oh, no! I do not see my boy. Is he lost? I look everywhere, but I can't find him.
9. Now I see my boy. He sees me too. Woof! Woof! I tell my boy he must not get lost again.

The snowman
1. Hooray! It's snowing! It's time to make a snowman.
2. James runs out. He makes a big pile of snow. He puts a big snowball on top. He adds a scarf and a hat. He adds an orange for the nose. He adds coal for the eyes and buttons.
3. In the evening, James opens the door. What does he see? The snowman is moving!
4. James invites him in. The snowman has never been inside a house. He says hello to the cat. He plays with paper towels.
5. A moment later, the snowman takes James's hand and goes out.
6. They go up, up, up into the air! They are flying! What a wonderful night!
7. The next morning, James jumps out of bed. He runs to the door.
8. He wants to thank the snowman. But he's gone.

The sitter
1. Mrs Grizzle comes to the tree house on time. She is very big - as big as Papa. She carries a bag.
2. "Good evening, all!" she says in a loud, happy voice. Mama and Papa kiss the cubs good night - and leave for the meeting.
3. Mrs Grizzle sits down in Papa's big chair. She takes off her hat and looks into her bag. "Mrs Grizzle?" says Sister."Yes?" "What's in the bag?" "A piece of string, a pack of cards..."
4. Mama and Papa call home from the meeting. "They are just fine," says Mrs Grizzle. "Brother and Sister can't come to the phone right now. They are busy playing...." "Have a good meeting!" shouts the cubs. They play many games.
5. The cubs are sleepy now. And Mrs Grizzle gets them ready for bed.
6. She helps them take bath. And she is a good story reader... and she tucks them in bed.
7. "I hope Mama and Papa had a good meeting," says Sister, "because we have a very good sitter."
8. The cubs had many different sitters. But Mrs Grizzle is their favourite. And they are always glad to see her.

The windy day
1. One day, I am painting a picture of Clifford in the park.
2. I am almost finished when the wind blows my painting up and away! Clifford runs after it.
3. But he doesn't see Mr Bleakman, who is feeding some squirrels.
4. The painting is flying toward Sheriff Lewis. Clifford follows it.
5. Sheriff Lewis is eating a yummy cake. But when Clifford goes running through, T-bone gets to taste some, too!
6. When my painting flies toward the playground, Clifford finally gets it! He is so excited that he doesn't see Jetta.
7. Again, Clifford is very sorry.
8. Everyone else is mad! Clifford doesn't mean to cause trouble. He just wants to get my painting for me. Thank you, Clifford!

Get in a fight
1. Brother and Sister don't say "please" and "thank you" at breakfast. And they don't sit together on the school bus.
2. That afternoon they make a line down the middle of their tree house. It begins to rain.
3. Sister takes back her toys from Brother. Brother takes back his cars and planes. He puts them on the top shelf. Sister can't reach them.
4. They get so angry! They begin to shout at each other again. Mama puts two fingers to her mouth. She whistles very loudly. The cubs stop shouting.
5. "What are you fighting about?" says Mama. The cubs can't remember. "Everybody gets into fights," she says. "Even in family and with friends. We get angry, and even say some bad things. And after a while it's over."
6. "Like the storm?" asks Sister. The rain stops. The sun comes out again. "Yes," says Mama, "like the storm."
7. "Look!" says Papa, "a rainbow." "A beautiful rainbow comes after a storm," says Mama, "like making up after a big fight."
8. So Brother and Sister hug and make up. They get along so well, until the next fight ...
