一

By the sea

①Papa, Mama, Brother and Sister go to the shore for weekend. There is a house for them to stay in.

②"Let's put on swimming suits and go into the water!" says Brother. "Wait, we must clean up, room by room!" says Mama.

③After that, Brother and Sister set out for the sea. Mama stops them and says, "Wait, there are things to carry, beds to make and clothes to clean."

④After that, Sister says, "It's time for swimming!" But Mama says, "Wait, it's time for us to eat something."

⑤After that, Sister asks, "Mama, can we go swimming now?" Mama says, "Dears, it's much too soon after food. It will be bad for your health."

⑥"It's long after lunch. Can we swim now? It's getting late in the afternoon!" says Brother. "Wait, my dears. Let'sput on some lotion." Says Mama.

⑦Now it's time for swimming! Brother and Sister run to the sea. "Wait!" shouts Papa. "But, Papa, will we never swim in the sea?" ask Brother and Sister. "Relax, I just wanted you to wait for me!" says Papa.

⑧The sea is fun! The sea is great! It's worth the wait!

The Bully

① Brother calls Sister into the room. “Wow,” says Sister. “Boxing gloves! Thank you very much, Brother!”

② Sister begins to practice right away. With Brother's help, she learns quickly and breaks a bag easily. She is no longer afraid of bullies!

③ One day, Sister is playing on the playground. She sees Tuffy, the bully.

④ Tuffy is throwing stones at a baby bird. Sister has to do something. “Stop that, you bully!” shouts Sister. “You’ll hurt that baby bird!”

⑤ Tuffy gets angry. She runs to Sister. Sister is ready, too. Quickly, Tuffy finds herself sitting on the ground with a bloody nose.

⑥ A teacher pulls Sister and Tuffy into the principal’s office.

⑦ “If the principal tells mom and dad,” says Tuffy, “I’ll be finished.” Sister is worried, too. The principal is very strict about fighting!

⑧ Another teacher sees the whole thing. She tells the principal that Sister was just trying to protect a baby bird. So he lets Sister go. As for Tuffy, she has to stay in the office and have a talk with the principal.

Claifford's first Valentine's Day

① Valentine's Day is coming. I am making valentine cards for Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa.

② Clifford wants to help. I give him some paper. He has his own way of cutting out hearts.

③ Clifford likes the smell of the paste. He thinks it would be good to eat. He is wrong. I have to wash out his mouth.

④ After I clean up my sticky red puppy, we finish the valentines. Clifford likes the special card I make for grandma.

⑤ Mom and I go to the post office to mail the cards. Oh-oh. Clifford falls into the dark hole...

⑥ The worker doesn't see Clifford. He takes the letter cart away.

⑦ Mom and I run into the room. We look everywhere, but we can't find him. Suddenly we hear a sound.

⑧ There he is! Clifford is glad to see us. And we are glad to have him back.

My loose tooth

1. In the morning, I brush my teeth. Oh, no! My tooth! It's loose!

2. On the bus to school, my loose tooth moves. I can twist it around, left and right, back and forth.

3. My tooth stays loose. The other kids do not have loose teeth. It's just not fair.

4. I want it out! But wait. You'll see, the tooth fairy will visit me.

5. I hop around on one foot, trying to get it to drop out. I get tired ?a the tooth is still there!

6. Then, one day, while I'm at lunch... My tooth ends up in what I am eating.

7. "Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!" I shout. "My tooth! My tooth! It's finally out!"

8. But, now there is a hole in my mouth. It will fill up later. Do you know how? A new tooth will take its place!

Tiger is a scaredy cat

1. This cat's name is Tiger. He is big and strong. But He is not brave.

2. He is scared of dogs and the dark. He is even scared of the mice in his house.

3. One day, it is sunny. Tiger takes a nap. The mice decide to take a walk. They do not see the cat.

4. Now they see the cat. The mice are scared. They run away. Tiger sees the mice. He is scared. He runs too.

5. Baby Mouse falls. "Waa! Waa!" he cries. "I want to go home! Help me." "No! I am too scared," says Tiger.

6. "Waa! Waa! I want my mommy!" cries Baby Mouse. Tiger feels sorry for Baby Mouse. "Don't cry. I will help you." Tiger carries him and goes down the dark stairs.
